Japanese fishing floats. Beautiful clear recycled glass, featuring rope netting in plain or black. Glass and netting colours will vary slightly, each is unique. 10cm glass buoy.
Glass floats have been made and used by fisheries in many parts of the world including Europe and Asia and are said to have originated in Norway in the late 1800s. Glass floats often escaped their nets and were found washed up on beaches around the world. Beachcombing for these glass floats became a hobby in the 1950s and since the advent of plastic and foam floats in the 1970s, these rare gems are highly sought after by collectors all over the world.
